Di necessita, virtu

Ciao!

Just a note, I am going to start posting only twice a week. I am starting to find it hard to switch from English to Italian to frequently and I think it is heightening my learning curve.
Also, I have added some pictures to this post: Thanksgiving.

Allora. I had a very bad day two days ago. I was sick, I had a horrible dream, I didn't get a lot of sleep, the girls were moody and I found a tiny thing of peanut butter for almost 5 Euros. That's crazy and I am not paying that much out of principle. All of this made me very homesick and I daydreamed of someone coming to pick me up. I cried and cried and moped and cried. But, I decided to go out to a cafe for an hour or two anyways. The fresh air and brisk day only annoyed me and I was angry that I could not ask for tea. A bad day makes everything bad. I came back, not feeling better in the slightest.
After supper, which was fish and beans and eggplant, (the important thing is the fish because there were lemons to squeeze onto them) Leo started squeezing the Lemon into his water. He did this for about 15 minutes. He wanted all the juice. He drank it and got another one and tried again. This time I told him about Lemonade. I said it was "Multo preferita in Canada" and we took some sugar and an icecube and added it to the lemon-water.
Suddenly I realized that life had given me lemons and I was making lemonade. I was a walking metaphor. Wait. Metaphore? Metaphor? I am truly losing my English skills. Anyways, I went to bed with a full stomach and slept quite well.
The next day I felt much better. I know these days will happen and I think I delt with it just fine. Push on through. These bad days also really motivate me. The day after I studied for lonnger than usual and I really want to learn a lot faster now. I feel better when I study. I can take on the world now! Plus, the sun is out today.
The other day we had chestnuts. I told Benedetta that I had never had them before and I think this is the first time they have all looked at me like I was truly a foriegner. It was hilarious. She had boiled them and they were amazing. We cut them open and ate them with a spoon. They were very good. I have had all sorts of neat food. I especially liked the beetroot salad we had lastnight with lemon and beetroot. Tasted like the earth.
Yesterday I also went for pasta at the cafe close to the house. It is my new favourite. I had horrible service at my old favourite cafe and also realised they are very expensive. I like this one. It is close and they are nice and the past was awesome.
I am now rushed off the Il Central Linguistica. (I think.)
Ciao!
